Meet the Team Behind Purely Doors

At Purely Doors, we’re a small but passionate team dedicated to providing high-quality, custom pre-hung door solutions across the North Island. Our mission is to simplify the door supply process for builders, painters, and homeowners — offering a complete supply, spray, and install service under one roof.

Our Story

Purely Doors was founded by Hayden Whiting, who also owns and operates Pure Painting, a respected painting company based in Taranaki. With over 20 years of experience in the painting and decorating industry, Hayden identified a clear gap in the market: builders and painters needed a streamlined door solution — not just supply, but preparation, finishing, and installation all in one. And so, Purely Doors was born.

Painting runs in Hayden’s blood. Following in his mother’s footsteps — who spent 30 years doing what she loved in the painting trade — Hayden found himself continuously drawn back to the brush after dabbling in various business ventures. Two years ago, he made the decision to fully commit to the trade, and since then, Pure Painting has gone from strength to strength, building a solid reputation across the region.

Hayden lives in New Plymouth with his wife, their three kids, and their dog Luna. When he’s not managing projects or perfecting finishes, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports.

The Team

Rob brings a wealth of experience to the team, with over 17 years in the painting industry. His background spans not only residential and commercial work in New Zealand, but also time in Australia, where he led painting crews and worked on spraying Super Yachts — demanding the highest standards of finish. Rob is a dedicated family man and a huge Rugby League fan who brings skill, precision, and a wealth of knowledge to every project.

Carne, the newest addition to the team, is a qualified builder with 8 years of experience. Looking to broaden his skillset, Carne stepped into painting — and his background in building and joinery has proven to be a major asset to Purely Doors. With an eye for detail and craftsmanship, Carne brings both practical and creative talents to the team. Outside of work, he’s a family man who enjoys crafting chopping boards and furniture in his spare time.
